The project is an innovative water and health improvement initiative, in conjunction with the University of Venda (Univen), located in Thohoyandou, South Africa. For UVa, the project brings together faculty from the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, Architecture, and the College of Arts and Sciences. At Univen, our partners include faculty from microbiology, hydrology, urban planning, resource management, and nursing. The diverse group worked together to improve water and health in a community near Thohoyandou. Faculty and students will work with members of a local community to assess water and health problems, research solutions, and implement strategies resulting from this research to improve water management and health outcomes.
