The Mcintire School of Commerce requests support to create diversity and inclusion student programs, which will raise awareness of diversity issues, promote understanding of differences, and build stronger support networks for underrepresented students. Ultimately, these efforts will drive positive change within the Mcintire community and create a more diverse cultural climate.
In the fall of 2016, Mcintire established the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in recognition on the need to attract and retain faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds. The goals of our office are: to affirm the value of diversity and inclusion at Mcintire; oversee the implementation of our strategic diversity initiatives; and seek opportunities to positively enhance the culture and climate at Mcintire. The programs and affiliated infrastructure described in this proposal will help meet these goals and lay the foundation for the newly formed Office.
