Project Spotlight

Teachers in the Movement

This proposal seeks funding to facilitate an oral history and web-based digital repository illuminating the roles of teachers in the American civil rights movement. The project will focus on interviewing elementary, secondary and university educators about their participation in and work during the civil rights movement. Participation in conducting oral histories and developing curricular materials with TIM will be open to all UVA undergraduate and graduate students. Students will gain instruction and research skills in the methodology of conducting oral histories, developing curricular materials, and doing archival research to accompany their oral history research.
