Project Spotlight

Research Fellowship Program

Rare Book School (RBS) established a scholarship program designed to enhance UVA student research employing special collections (including written, printed, and/or born-digital materials) – as well as to encourage interdisciplinary learning across departments and institutions. The program targets talented undergraduate and graduate students pursuing promising projects that engage with primary source materials, such as manuscripts, printed books, photographs and prints, bookbindings, and/or born-digital documents. Even as the program offers unique opportunities for talented students to pursue original, hands-on research with RBS’s expert international faculty and celebrated collections, it also provides Fellows and their sponsors entrée to RBS’s extensive peer and professional network comprised of exceptional students, bookdealers, curators, librarians, collectors, and distinguished academics from around the world. Fellows share their projects with this diverse community in their coursework, via the RBS website, and at an annual forum.
