Global Leadership Forum 2017: Promoting Gender Equality in Education

The Presidential Precinct requests a matching grant of $50,000 from the Jefferson Trust for support of the Global Leadership Forum 2017: Promoting Gender Equality in Education. The Trust’s grant will be matched by a minimum of $50,000 raised privately by the Precinct. These funds will support a weeklong event which will convene 50 emerging leaders from 25 countries and an equal number of students from the University of Virginia community to discuss pressing current issues in equal access to quality education for women and girls worldwide. Through plenary and breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, study groups, site visits, community service, and a one-day “Innovation Challenge,” participants will develop innovative solutions to real-world education challenges and commit to experimenting with these solutions after the Forum. UVA faculty and students will make significant intellectual contributions to the Forum through leadership roles in program design and implementation.
