Project Spotlight

Film Production of “A Jefferson Ideal”

The grant supported the University of Virginia Art Museum production of the film documenting the collection built by UVA alumnus Dr. Henry C. Landon III and his wife Barbara. The museum’s exhibition of the Landon’s collection presented more than 50 paintings and decorative arts objects from the late seventeenth through the nineteenth century. The film focused on the breadth and quality of the works in the exhibition, highlighting the artistry of the decorative arts, the rarity of such a collection in private hands,  and the illustration of life in the 18th and 19th century America. The finished product was suitable for broadcast on PBS and for a wide distribution.
