Project Spotlight

2-day Round-Tables at SALALM 2016

We are inviting a group of Latin American Studies practitioners from a broad range of fields to participate in a conference that will focus on the many ways in which individuals and institutions are facing globalizing trends in academic realms. The goal of the conference is to consider and question Latin American Area Studies as a focus of research and critical attention, especially as this discourse gears with the growing interest in Global Studies and transnational knowledge flows. We are proposing three round tables over two-days where key members across Latin American Studies academic communities (faculty, program administrators, publishers, graduate students and librarians) will engage each other in an open space for reflection on the future of Global/Area Studies. We consider that the intellectual intersections of these different Latin American practitioners will enrich the dialogue and will bring important insights toward the broad national discourse regarding Global Studies.
